Our Organisation

As the governing body of New Zealand’s premier events facility, THE EDGE’s focus is on giving you a memorable experience through the provision of a diverse range of commercial and non-commercial activities within the performing arts, cultural, entertainment and conventions sectors.

Under the trading brand, THE EDGE, the Aotea Centre Board of Management has an agreement with Auckland City Council to manage three of Auckland’s landmark venues – Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall and The Civic – as well as the central city’s largest outdoor space, Aotea Square. Collectively, the venues are valued at approximately $300 million and are a central feature of Aotea Quarter.

The Board has management responsibility for the activity undertaken in these venues and employs approximately 120 permanent and 300 casual staff. The Board reports to Auckland City Council’s Finance and Strategy Committee.

Auckland City Council also has a funding agreement with THE EDGE to deliver the Council’s Arts Agenda Programme, providing a wide range of arts and cultural activities to rate payers and residents of Auckland City.
