THE EDGE, while managing the three venues (Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall, The Civic) which provide unique events spaces for Auckland Convention Centre at THE EDGE, is also New Zealand’s leading performing arts and commercial entertainment facility, providing a diverse range of commercial and non-commercial activities within the performing arts, cultural and entertainment sectors for the people of Auckland.
Our annual International Arts Season has become an important part of our calendar and we host the subscription concerts and performances of some of New Zealand and Auckland's major performing arts companies including the Royal New Zealand Ballet, NBR New Zealand Opera, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music New Zealand, Auckland Philharmonia, Auckland Chamber Orchestra, Auckland Choral, Dalewool Auckland Brass, and Viva Voce. Annual festivals, visiting shows and other events add to the vibrant and varied arts experience offered at our venues.
Our non-commercial activities, or Public Programmes offering, is the result of a funding agreement with Auckland City Council. This agreement requires us to deliver a wide range of arts and cultural activities to ratepayers and residents of Auckland City in fulfilment of part of the Council’s Arts Agenda policy objectives.
