Reflecting on themes of love and loss in the Great War, this concert pairs Elgar’s haunting Cello Concerto, performed by one of Scandinavia's leading young cellists - Andreas Brantelid - with the fierce lyricism of Ross Harris' powerful Symphony No.2. Madeleine Pierard, for whom Harris' symphony was written, returns for the APO's second performance of this critically acclaimed New Zealand work.
