Nabucco was the opera that established Verdi’s reputation as an outstanding opera composer. He described it as “the opera with which my artistic career really begins. And though I had many difficulties to fight against, it is certain that Nabucco was born under a lucky star." Part love story and part political drama, this is dramatic and moving Verdi.
It is best known for the ‘Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves’, which was a hit from the very first performance.
With a strong chorus presence from the Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus and a large orchestra on stage, this concert performance of the opera will be a thrilling and powerful experience.
Cast includes:
Boris Statsenko Nabucco
Paoletta Marrocu Abigaille
Helen Medlyn Fenene
Ben Makisi Ismaele
Chapman Tripp Opera Chorus, Director
John Rosser
