Addicted to Darcy? Lost all Sense and Sensibility? Bonkers for Big Balls?
Well put down your cross-stitching and join Auckland’s leading improv troupe, ConArtists, as they swoon, curtsey, and pianoforte their way through an entirely improvised Austenian Musical. Charming suitors, meddlesome mothers, tight breeches and surprisingly well educated girls will all paint a vivid picture in song, dance and passionate hand holding.
Following a near sell-out at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and a totally sold out 2009 NZ International Comedy Festival season, we politely suggest booking early to ensure our dance card isn’t full.
The bounteous cast includes Hobbit Lori Dungey and “Hot Pink” comedienne Penny Ashton, who have both represented NZ in the 2006 German World Cup of Theatresports and were victorious in The Improvaganza Tournament in Edmonton in 2003. They will be joined by veteran improviser Nigel Burrows, Chris Neels and Christchurch’s Court Jesters Kathleen Burns. Award winning composer and Pianoforte virtuoso Robbie Ellis will be providing the accompaniment.
“A marvellous time is had by all. Jane Austen would turn in her grave with delight!” - Rip It Up Adelaide
