'Sergey Malov was a clear winner within a few pages of his Bartók Second Concerto, slinking fetchingly from its sinuous almost bluesy opening theme to volatile Magyar outbursts.' - William Dart, New Zealand Herald
Winner of the 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, Russian-born Sergey Malov teams up with pianist Michael Houstoun for a spellbinding programme of virtuosic repertoire.
In 2011, Sergey won the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg, before winning a hat-trick as he scooped the top prize along with the inaugural Julian Paul Anderson Award for best chamber music player and the Audience Prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition.
Revered pianist Michael Houstoun will once again perform with the winner, while NZTrio cellist Ashley Brown will join them for Beethoven’s ‘Ghost’ Trio.
Be taken on a breath-taking musical ride with music by Ysaÿe, Psathas, Franck and Beethoven, there is something to delight everyone.
