Aotea Square

As the largest open-air space in the inner city, and with a unique combination of pavement, gardens and lawns, the Aotea Square is the hub of THE EDGE venues.

The Aotea Square has been used for a myriad of different activities including festivals, parades, political rallies, cultural shows and community events.

When you next visit THE EDGE you’ll see that work on the Aotea Square redevelopment is in progress, and much of Aotea Square is currently hoarded off.

We are open
During the redevelopment, which is due to be completed in October 2010, all of THE EDGE venues will continue to operate. As previously outlined, the Aotea Centre’s ASB Theatre and Herald Theatre, as well as Auckland Town Hall and The Civic, will remain open for business throughout the redevelopment of Aotea Square.
