		TERM 1
		NZ Comedy Trust's CLASS COMEDIANS 2012 Years 10 - 13 Class Comedians provides an extra-curricular opportunity for senior students in the comedy genre. This is run at no cost to the school or students, and includes a full programme of in-school comedy shows, workshops, and mentor sessions; culminating in a graduation showcase at the Auckland Town Hall during the NZ International Comedy Festival. 		Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s DISCOVERY CONCERT Years 7 - 13 A showcase concert for music students, presenting performance and composition role models - both peer and professional. Music performed will include Cambridge International A & AS level set work Beethoven Symphony No.3, last movement, as well as favourites such as the Enigma Variations by Elgar, songs by Copland and the music of movie doyen John Williams. 		Auckland Writers & Readers Festival SCHOOLS PROGRAMME Years 5 - 13 (limited room for Year 6s) The programme is extremely popular with students and teachers; featuring fantasy, science fiction, storytelling, song writing, poetry and the process of writing. 		National Youth Theatre Company - JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT Years 5 - 13 The National Youth Theatre Company presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat!  Recently repopularised by the TV Show Any Dream Will Do, this is the latest, greatest version of Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical sensation. Over 200 of Auckland’s finest young performers take the stage to present this classic musical, full of spectacle, joy, and fantastic songs. 		Red Leap Theatre’s THE ARRIVAL Adapted from the award winning book by Shaun Tan Years 7 - 13 A universal migrant tale set in a fantastical time and place.  A wondrous, wordless play, The Arrival combines a highly physical ensemble cast with music, movement, puppetry and shadow play to bring Tan’s imagery to life. 		Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s CONNECTING WITH MUSIC Years 9 - 13 A free hour-long concert presentation for secondary school students attending West Auckland schools or schools of Decile 5 or lower. Each school receives free bus transport and a pre-concert visit to their classrooms by an APO musician. The programme includes music by composers Bernstein, Gershwin and Corigliano. 		New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s MUSIC FOR SCHOOLS CONCERT Years 5 - 8 A free concert for school students which will introduce them to the sights and sounds of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. YEAR LONG PROGRAMMES
Royal New Zealand Ballet’s MENTOR PROGRAMME An opportunity for passionate dance students to be mentored by a RNZB dancer. Mentor students will spend time with their mentor during each season, watch the dancers take company class and spend time backstage with the company. Acceptance to the mentor programme is by application and includes a DVD exemplar of technique. BOOKING/INFO: Application forms can be found at nzballet.org.nz		New Zealand Symphony Orchestra’s YOUNG ORIGINALS NZSO Young Originals is about developing the next generation of musical artists. Providing youth orchestra coaching, player mentoring, conductor workshops and a nationwide young composers’ competition, the NZSO is committed to ensuring New Zealand’s musical future.
